The
Religious Education (RE) Committee is opening a search for a new
part-time Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE). We hope to find someone
who is familiar with UU values and principles and who has a commitment to
furthering these in the youth of our fellowship. Review of applications
will begin on September 12, 2008 and will continue until the position is
filled. If possible we would like the selected candidate to begin in
October.
The CRE will work closely with the RE Committee
in the organization and planning of the RE program. The CRE will
need to have good interpersonal skills,
basic computer skills, access to a computer, and to the
internet/email. Initially the job will concentrate on issues relating to
organization (e. g., the calendar of childcare workers), communication (e.
g., among the teachers, the RE committee, the treasurer, and the
fellowship), recruitment of childcare workers and volunteers, and
record-keeping. With further financial support from the fellowship and
therefore more hours of paid work, we hope the following fiscal year the job
can expand to include areas such as attending RE leadership workshops,
investigating and evaluating RE curricular materials, and overall curriculum
planning throughout the RE program.
The salary for the Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) will be $330 a
month for approximately four hours of work per week, (or approximately 16-18
hours of work per month). It is expected that the CRE will be involved with
the RE program on Sunday mornings on a regular basis in order to maintain
quality, facilitate communication, and establish familiarity with the
families involved in the RE program. In order to achieve this the CRE would
need to work at the Fellowship before and after the service with the
remainder of the job being completed on a flexible basis.
The application should include (1) an
application letter that includes a statement of why the applicant is
interested in the position, (2) a resume including life experiences that
directly or indirectly have prepared the applicant for this position, and
(3) a list of names and
phone numbers of at least three references the committee can contact. In
applying for this position the committee will assume that the applicant is
giving tacit approval for committee members to contact the listed references
as well as unlisted references. We would like to assure the applicants that
all information gained from the applications, from discussions with
references, or from discussions within the committee will be treated as
strictly confidential.
