The short Thanksgiving service on 11/18/18 will be followed by our annual BUUF Thanksgiving dinner. And as many of you know, our Thanksgiving service is a big feast! In addition to the expressions of gratitude, we need people to volunteer to bring food. Catherine Fountain has graciously put together a Sign-Up Genius list of our food needs. Please go there and volunteer to bring a dish! We’ll also have a laptop available this Sunday (11/11) during announcements for those who need help using Sign-Up Genius, or who would just prefer to verbally indicate what they’re bringing to the Thanksgiving feast.

Boone UU is excited to support our children & youth with the fall conferences at The Mountain in Highlands, NC. The Mountain is a UU camp/conference center that sits atop a mountain with a beautiful low growth forest of white oaks (some as old as 313 yrs.) that are dwarfed by the winds. This is the setting for three UU youth conferences that take place this fall.
This year, BUUF has received interest from the elementary, middle, and high school youth to attend the fall CONs (as they are referred to as). We leave after school on Friday and return on Sunday late afternoon.
Dates for the 2018 FALL CONs:
As a fellowship, we want to support this type of opportunity for our youth and families and do offer scholarships as needed. Please contact Allison Rollans, DRE, for more information. Registration is open now!
Our BUUF Day Retreat is at Valle Crucis Park on Saturday, September 22, from 10am-3:30pm. The Retreat will be a combination of activities at the park (frisbee, wading, conversations, etc.) with short workshops and discussion sessions that BUUF members can attend on an optional basis. The BUUF Board will provide drinks and Bar-B-Q meats for lunch; members should bring side dishes to share, potluck-style.
Here's an outline of the retreat activities:
