Teaching children to find their own faith path through service, tradition, and experience.
Children & Youth Religious Education
Religious education at BUUF provides people of all ages a chance to reflect on our seven guiding principles and to learn from the teachings of the world’s religions, including Judaism and Christianity, as well as Earth-based religions and humanist philosophies. We strive to maintain ongoing Religious Education (RE) classes, special events, and other learning opportunities in order to nurture a caring community that empowers our members and friends to develop their spiritual, intellectual, and ethical identities in an atmosphere of mutual acceptance and support.
The goal of Children & Youth RE is to help young people understand and develop the values and principles we as UUs see as the vehicle of seeking one's truth in their own need for faith and spirituality. We utilize the UUA's Tapestry of Faith curricula to guide our Sunday learning experiences. In addition to Sunday classes, we offer multiple additional learning opportunities for kids and youth. Registration is required for all children and youth to participate in RE programs. Please scroll down for enrollment forms. During Sunday Services, babies, toddlers , and "Chalice Children" (ages 3-5) will share time together at The Children's Playhouse. under the watchful sueprvision and support of childcare attendants. Snack is provided. "Helping Hands Children" (ages 5-10) typically attend service until being "sung out" of service at 11:20, and then these children are free to move to The Children's Playhouse for circle time, snack and activities. For UU Youth (ages 12-18), we offer special opportunities to work with younger UU children, attend and participate in services, participate in the "Our Whole Lives" (OWL) program, and to join other UU youth in regional events. RE Parent Volunteers: Parent volunteers are always needed and appreciated! Opportunities to support RE and Sundays (11am - 12:15pm) and during special events are available. You will submit your availability for volunteering when registering your children for RE. Learn more about children & youth religious education at BUUF: |
