​Contribute to Justice & Outreach

A large part of the UU mission is to actively help make our world a better place. We do that first by supporting our friends and neighbors in our local community. We participate in protests and vigils for social and environmental causes. We clean up the a local waterway as part of our Adopt a River participation. We serve meals at the Hospitality House, a local soup kitchen and shelter facility for homeless individuals and families.

Hospitality House Monthly Meal Service
BUUF members and friends volunteer to provide a dinner and serve dinner every 4th Thursday of the month at the Hospitality House of Boone. It's a meal for 100. There are lots of ways to help: cooking one of the dishes, serving, or donating money for ingredients (or the ingredients themselves). The "Executive Chef" for the month picks the menu and helps recruit folks to make the magic happen. 

Currently, the cooking is done at home. Cooked food needs to be there by 5:00 p.m. It's a great way to demonstrate  that "Love is our doctrine" in a very practical way.  Use the following link to sign up on the SignUpGenius website. Please email Kathy Parham if you can help, have questions or need assistance. 

Adopt a River Cleanup
BUUF has committed to keeping a section of a river in downtown Boone (near Lowes Hardware) clean and tidy. Contact us to learn how you can help with this effort.
