Community Service & OutreachService to our local community is integral to our mission as a Fellowship. In fact, our Covenant includes this statement. Over the years, BUUF members have volunteered with a multitude of local organizations, including many of our community partners. From serving meals once a month at Hospitality House, to providing educational classes and materials to local children in need, offering a Little Library, helping with the Playhouse's annual Buildfest, to cleaning up our adopted stretch of river in downtown Boone,
In addition, we on occasion, collect monetary donations as part of our Community Giving Program. Boone UU is committed to supporting our community. Below are details on some of our current and past service projects. |

Hospitality House Monthly Meal Service
BUUF members and friends volunteer to provide a dinner and serve dinner every 4th Thursday of the month at the Hospitality House of Boone. It's a meal for 100. You can help by cooking one of the dishes or donating money for ingredients. Currently, the cooking is done at home. Cooked food needs to be there by 5:00 p.m. It's a great way to demonstrate that "Love is our doctrine" in a very practical way. Please email Kathy Parham if you can help, have questions or need assistance. |
Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge's Basic Needs Totes
Many individuals living in poverty in the High Country are forced to choose between food and hygiene and household products. For many years, the WFBR has worked to ease this burden on women and girls by providing household and hygiene supplies to Ashe County Sharing Center, Hospitality House, OASIS, and Reaching Avery Ministry to name a few. We all know how the cost of items such as deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, paper towels, and dish soap can pile up over time.
You can purchase items for the totes from their Amazon wish list. Items are shipped directly to the Women's Fund office
