Adult RE Forum: Adult Forum, organized by Katie Mack and Stuart Kaplan, meets for intimate, deep discussion, with the topic to be announced at the meeting. Sunday Service Program: BUUF Thanksgiving: Gratitude and the Human Spirit Presented by Connie Green It’s easy to be grateful for the good things that come our way, the events we celebrate, our accomplishments, and the gifts we receive. Being grateful for our whole lives, the sorrow, the losses, the failures and well as the successes, requires hard spiritual work. In this brief program of stories and reflections, we will consider spiritual practices of gratitude. This short service will be followed by our annual BUUF Thanksgiving dinner. And as many of you know, our Thanksgiving service is a big feast! In addition to the expressions of gratitude, we need people to volunteer to bring food. Catherine Fountain has graciously put together a Sign-Up Genius list of our food needs. Please go there and volunteer to bring a dish! We’ll also have a laptop available this Sunday (11/11) during announcements for those who need help using Sign-Up Genius, or who would just prefer to verbally indicate what they’re bringing to the Thanksgiving feast. We can’t wait to break bread with the BUUF family on November 18th—not least of all because you’re such great cooks! After the Service at 12:30 p.m. - Youth Group: The Youth Group (grades 8-12) group meets. Contact Travis Boswell for more information.
Adult RE Forum: Sunday Adult RE Forums are cancelled for the month of October. Meetings are expected to restart in November. Sunday Service Program: Guest at Your Table 2018: Justice Across Borders Presented by Craig Fischer and BUUF. Service Leader: Will Canu. The Guest at Your Table program is the primary fundraiser for the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), a non-profit member organization of the UUA that provides disaster relief and promotes human rights around the world. The “Guest at Your Table” is a small cardboard box you drop your loose change into when you sit down for a meal; our BUUF tradition is to pool the change we collect and send it to the UUSC right before Christmas. At this service, BUUF members will distribute the boxes and discuss the UUSC initiatives that help refugees and advocate for immigrant justice. After the Service at 12:30 p.m. - Youth Group: The Youth Group (grades 8-12) group meets. Contact Travis Boswell for more information. Fellowship Service Opportunity: The Youth Group is seeking volunteer assistants. Contact Travis for details.
