Today's Program: Singing the Journey: Celebrating Community with Song Presented by Linda Larson For many of us, one of the greatest gifts of a faith community is the opportunity to hear and participate in singing. A choir of BUUF members and friends will lead this singing-focused service, with choral performances, congregational singing, and even a few special solos and duets. We will introduce a few new songs from the hymnal supplement Singing the Journey, as well as repeat some favorites. We are choosing pieces to celebrate community, family, love, and friendship. If you are interested in participating as a member of the choir, please contact Linda Larson at lindalarson917 (at) gmail (dot) com. We will have rehearsals on Sunday, July 1 (optional) and Sunday, July 8 before the service; women/upper voices arrive at 9:30 a.m., men/lower voices at 10 a.m. for each rehearsal. Also as part of the Program: Community Giving for the Back to School Festival’s Fill the Bus Campaign. In addition to money collected during the Offering, the Social Action Committee is also looking for donations of composition books (the black-and-white marbled type) and colored pencils for students of limited means.
Today's Program: Boonerang Presented by Katie Mack and Rachel McKinney Boone allows people to leave but never really leaves people. Boone has changed rather dramatically over the past decades and when you are called to return, you find both the familiar and unfamiliar. Two members, Katie Mack and Rachel McKinney, reflect on what they've found and what they continue to seek in the community and in BUUF after decades-long absences. After the Service: Interdependence Potluck Picnic at Alice and Earl’s Home Directions to the Picnic: Follow US Highway 421 to South towards Mountain City, Tennessee. At the North Carolina—Tennessee Line, take a left onto Old Us Hwy 421. Drive ½ mile. Mailbox says NAYLOR. (If you’re on US Highway 421 and you cross into Tennessee, Sharpie’s Restaurant will be on the left and a fireworks stand on the right; that means you’ve gone too far.) Park behind the drive-thru barn. Folks with mobility issues may drive up the driveway to the garage and park. There is wheelchair access on the east side of the patio. In that case, you will need to drive on the lawn at the garage. Note: Please do not enter the 110-year-old barn, as it may not be safe. Children must be supervised by an adult while at the pond.
Adult RE Forum: Adult Forum, organized by Katie Mack and Stuart Kaplan, meets for intimate, deep discussion, with the topic to be announced at the meeting.
