One of our own, member Robert Leon, passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. Robert was a longtime Boone UU member who served on the Board and joined us for many of our August retreats. Many of you may remember his son Jackson as a participant in RE events. We love Robert, and are heartbroken over his passing. Robert's family has planned a Celebration of Life service for this Saturday, February 1, at 4pm, in our Fellowship Sanctuary. Robert's family and friends will be in attendance, and our beloved friend Reverend Tommy Brown will preside. Please join us if you can to remember Robert and celebrate his life. A few important notes for those planning to attend the service on Saturday: We expect parking to be very tight, and would like to reserve it for Robert's family if possible. To this end, we are are organizing a carpool/shuttle service from the New Market parking lot beginning at 3:30 on Saturday. Please plan on arriving early and parking in the Southeast corner of the New Market lot (where the SECU ATM used to be); we'll have at least 2 cars to shuttle people to the Fellowship between 3:30 and 3:50, and then back to New Market after the service. Many of us are likely wondering how we can help with the service, and help Robert's family at this difficult time. Plans for food and further time for fellowship after the memorial are not yet finalized, but we will convey updated information to the fellowship once we hear more from his family. Please contact Catherine Fountain at [email protected] with any questions or concerns, and also if you're willing to help with our parking/shuttle plans.
