On Sunday September 29, immediately after the service and before Serendipity lunch, the Social Action Committee will hold an organizational meeting, and all are invited. The purpose of the meeting is (1.) to inform the Fellowship about the Committee’s current activities; and (2.) to invite potential new members to bring their enthusiasm and ideas to the Committee, so we can grow in translating our covenant into action. Join us! Or if you can’t make the 9/29 meeting, contact Craig Fischer (craig_fschr@yahoo.com) and let him know you’re interested. We hope you will join us for a fund-raising dinner for Dreaming for Change on Wednesday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m., 381 East King Street. Dreaming for Change is a charitable organization in Burundi striving to help women develop small businesses, teach families to cultivate kitchen gardens, and provide daily meals for children who lack basic nutrition. The feeding program is an emergency effort to provide one meal of fortified porridge to malnourished children five days a week. When the feeding program began, the Dreaming for Change team expected 50 children to come, but 180 attended the first day. Now the numbers are regularly 250 or higher. When you purchase a ticket for this dinner, you will join in our commitment to raise funds needed to sustain the feeding program. Tickets are $50 per plate or $275 for a table of six. Please write checks to Barry Thomas with Dreaming for Change in the memo line or Paypal bfthomas@att.net. Please prepay by Paypal or by check mailed to Barry Thomas, P. O. Box 1332,Jefferson, NC 28649 To learn more about Dreaming for Change, go to http://dreamingforchange.org/.
